How To Enter BIOS (Basic Input and Output System) in Toshiba Computers or Laptops


BIOS (Basic Input and Output System) is where critical settings about a computer system are configured. The most common configurations are, for example, boot sequence of internal HDD, SSD, optical drive, potable hard drive, USB flash drive, USB CD/DVD/Blu-Ray, and etc; network boot; enabling or disabling of CPU virtualization support; machine date and time; and many others.


Here’s the way to enter the BIOS in a Toshiba Tecra, Satellite or Portege computer. Though all the PCs is produced by Toshiba, but each different notebook or laptop, depending on model and series, may use different keyboard shortcut combinations to enter the BIOS. So if one method doesn’t work, try the other.
Note that all steps has to be done before the operating system loading. If you saw the Windows logo or other OS logo appearing, it means that you miss the window to enter the BIOS. Shutdown and restart the computer in order to perform the BIOS entering steps again.
Entering BIOS in Toshiba Tecra & Toshiba Satellite
Method 1
  1. Turn off your Toshiba laptop.
  2. Wait 30 seconds and turn your laptop back on.
  3. Press F2 key repetitively as soon as the Toshiba laptop begins booting until the BIOS menu screen appears.
Method 2
  1. Turn off your Toshiba notebook.
  2. Turn your notebook back on.
  3. Press Esc key on boot up.
  4. Press F2 key to enter BIOS.
Note
Another common key is to press F12 to select the boot up device.
Method 3
  1. Turn off your Toshiba notebook.
  2. Power on the computer.
  3. Immediately press Esc key on boot up.
  4. Press F1 key to enter BIOS.
Method 3
  1. Turn off your Toshiba notebook.
  2. Press and hold the Esc key, and power on the computer by holding down the Power button.
  3. The machine will beep to indicate error, with message:
    Check System, then press [F1] key.
  4. Release the Esc key.
  5. Press F1 key to enter BIOS.

  1. Turn off your Toshiba computer.
  2. Power on the machine.
  3. Press F12 key repetitively as soon as the booting begins until the BIOS menu screen appears.
