Call Of Duty: Standalone Modern Warfare Remastered Launching Date Unveiled

Arguably, the most appealing part of last year’s Call of Duty: Infinite Warfarewas the pack-in Modern Warfare Remastered. The remaster of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare got a lot of people excited, but up until now, it’s only been available in a bundle with Infinite Warfare. If you were disappointed by that, then cheer up, because Activision has just announced that Modern Warfare Remastered will get a standalone release.

There’s a bit of good news and bad news coming along with this announcement. The good news is that the game will launch next week, on June 27. Whether or not the next part is bad news depends on what your platform of choice is: that June 27 release date only applies to the PS4 version.

As it stands, the standalone version has been confirmed for Xbox One and PC, but we don’t have a launch date for those versions yet. The hope, of course, is that the wait between the PS4 version and the other two won’t be that long, but with Activision unwilling to talk release dates just yet, we aren’t left feeling very encouraged.

Regardless of your platform, you’ll need to shell out $40 for the standalone version of Modern Warfare Remastered. That gets you the campaign and 16 different multiplayer maps, but it’s worth noting that the Variety Pack DLC isn’t included. If you want the DLC, which adds four additional maps, you’ll need to pay an extra $15 for it.

It’s taken Activision more than eight moths to release a standalone version of Modern Warfare Remastered, but as the old adage goes, better late than never. This should do something to bring players back to the Call of Duty brand before the launch of Call of Duty: WWII, which is scheduled for release on November 3. Will you be picking up Modern Warfare Remastered or has that ship already sailed for you? Leave us a comment with your thoughts.
